The coin hoard we present below was discovered in 2008, in the Main Gate – Main Tower Sector in Histria, within a layer of burnt material corresponding to the second period of use of the room L4 of the Insula 2. The coin hoard consists of 34 silver denarii dating from the 1st-3rd centuries. The earliest coin was issued in AD 69, the most recent in AD 217-218. The low degree of wear observed on the majority of coins indicates that the hoard was not accumulated in time. The authors also present the archaeological context in which the hoard was discovered.
